YOU HAVE ARRIVED
19 BELOW
A BOUTIQUE, IN BOTH SERVICE & STYLE
19 Below is the culmination of an established production company looking to expand its services and an editor and former business owner looking for an opportunity to upgrade. Walk it down a flight of stairs beneath a swanky crossroads art district restaurant...and just like us, you have arrived.
Working as an exclusive shop, 19 Below will help you find your way from script to screen, from paper to projection, and from our gallery to one of our HD edit suites.
We consider ourselves a boutique both in service and style. Perhaps best known for creatively cutting on Avid Adrenaline or Final Cut Pro, we are also stepping on to the motion graphics platform with some of the finest work the city has to offer.
With latte in hand and lunch on the way you’ll be able to stay focused on your artistic vision, with only your cell phone to interrupt you.
Commercial work, webisodes, documentaries, style pieces or corporate videos, 19 Below will dig deep to give your piece the mood, style and story that fits its purpose, audience and of course you.

In 2007 I was presented with the opportunity to merge with Bark Productions and open the doors to a new studio and post production experience: 19 Below. I accepted.

TEAM 19
JOY moeller
CREATIVE DIRECTOR / EDITOR
I started my underground tour at the Kansas City Art Institute after cutting ties with my Husker Homeland. Determined to attend grad school and make dark confusing films that go on way too long, I instead accepted an amazing opportunity to stay in KC and work as the city’s lone female editor in the world of advertising agencies and corporate creatives. I have ten years of professional avid storytelling experience and have worked on projects for McDonalds, Sonic, Gordmans, Wal-Mart, Houlihans, and Sprint. I like to think I helped reinvent the post production circuit in the city through the opening of the city’s first video and audio boutique. In 2007 I was presented with the opportunity to merge with Bark Productions and open the doors to a new studio and post production experience: 19 Below. I accepted.

BRAD hodgson
MOTION DESIGNER / EDITOR
I spent my teens and early 20's living like a rock star, playing guitar and singing with a local band, and while we were very successful, I realized that maybe I couldn’t actually make a living off it. In my mid 20's I went back to school and earned a Communications/Film and Media Arts degree; while in school I taught a variety of film classes alongside my professors. I also had a number of short films and animations screen in film festivals nation wide. I love texture, atmosphere, and story and adore seeing the three meld together in harmony and create a powerful visual message; in short I dig editing and motion graphics. After meeting with 19 Below, I realized the vision they have created is exactly in line with the idea and aesthetic I admire and want to be a part of . . . guess I can make a living as a rock star.

STUDIO MANAGER
The story behind how I became the Studio Manager here at 19 Below is probably going to sound pretty typical. I grew up in a small desert town an hour or so from Roswell, New Mexico. Born into a family of musicians, I’ve been in choirs all my life, and once played Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. I went to college in the heart of the Ozark Mountains where I majored in Communication, sang in the university’s elite choir and interned as a junior reporter for a local news station. After college, I spent a few years working as a bank teller, then a telemarketer and even a loan officer, where I played a small role in bringing about what is now the sub-prime loan crisis. Then I moved to Kansas City to become a rockstar. I played bass and sang in a band by night, and by day was first an office manager for a small but lucrative internet startup company, and then a billings coordinator for a local ad agency. Finally, Joy called me. I told her I was good with people and stuff, and I guess it worked, because here I am. So yeah...pretty typical.

SALES MANAGER
Born and raised in Kansas City, I have a genuine love and admiration for everything about it. After graduating from Central Missouri State University with a degree in Psychology, I worked my way through the ranks of the corporate world here in KC. I spent several years with Hallmark holding down responsibilities including Customer Service, Sales and Marketing and Purchasing; and I was part of the team that revolutionized wrapping paper. After reviewing my career path, I felt it was time to move out of corporate and into, well, advertising! I admire the work coming out of this industry and the talent we have in Kansas City. One of the things I enjoy most about being in sales and marketing is the range of personalities I get to interact with and truly get to know . . . this is where the Psychology major comes in very handy. Through the time tested process of research and networking, I landed the perfect opportunity as Sales Manager for 19 Below and Bark Productions. I am very excited to be a part of this super talented group and industry.
